‘Reflect’ to be Featured

Having been apart of Alan Cleavers group, Whitehaven Snappers, for 2 months now, i’m impressed to see the group has really taken off. It is fantastic to see so many creative people in the local area of Cumbria and i’m currently looking forward to a night in a haunted house!

“The Rum Story has very kindly invited Snappers to come along and photograph one of their ghost hunts taking place on March 28. It will run from 6.30pm to midnight and includes refreshments and a talk by Dr Jason Braithwaite. And then a chance to take some ‘moody’ shots or pictures of the researchers at work. And who knows - we may even ‘capture’ the ghost on film.” Alan Cleaver

Will be an amazing event, although i must admit, i’m quite worried about capturing something i cannot explain.

The latest competition was our interpretation of “Reflections,” by which i entered the two images below earlier in February:

Reflect; Reflection in a window at Manchester Airport.
Window reflection at Manchester Airport, where you go for coffee after checking in, ‘out there’ is where the planes were lined up. I was amazing with the colour and those red lights - from a van if i’m recollecting correctly. No Photoshop manipulation. (Alan has requested a larger image, as Dave gave it an honourable mention in his competition report, for The Whitehaven News) on the 13th March ‘08.

Photographer, Dave commented:

“I think Sarah France’s picture would look amazing on a big canvas.”

Ink Landscape: Scurrying ink; a mini explosion formed naturally in a bowl of water.
I used a glass bowl of water, placed a sheet of white paper behind it so that there was nothing interfering with the image i wanted, and dropped Quink Ink off a tiny brush and set the camera to multi shot (as it moves quite rapid). I have captured the reflection underneath the waterline. No Photoshop manipulation.
