Love to Post

Love to Post, have received my postcard and it is now up on the website.
A project by Martin Rimmer.

New Website, New Intro.

This morning i have been experimenting with different ways of welcoming viewers to my new upcoming online showcase. The image below could be placed on the contact page, and a more neatly formed composition could mark the beginning of the website.

Typography

Playing with word phrases, I created an A3 piece. This is an initial drawing and will be developed further, adding more illustration. I’d like to incorporate the glowing effects shown on previous posts.

Manipulation

Adding more play to the ink collages, I further manipulated the images, copying and pasting sections and placing them in different compositions.

Scene it

Further Ink exploration ::

Having played with the different effects, colouring and rotation, these images were produced. To me they appear as scenes, the mustard being a reflection in a river of a flower bud, the other of an entrance to a forest.

Please feel free to leave your own interpretations.

Unpredictable Graphics

To further post my Ink exploration ::
These illustrations/graphics were made purely through Ink explosions within a bowl of water, the only addition is the eyes and brightness, contrast manipulation.

The haziness adds to the images, creating a further fabrication of fantasy.

Water colours

Having watched the opening credits to the Korean thriller, Lady Vengeance, I was intrigued by the effects and the smooth transitions between frames. With the use of a brilliant white background other aspects were then added to the sequence. I tried to replicate their effect of blood dripping into water, and in doing so came up with these wonderful effects, the images captured are rather strange in that compositions are formed naturally and are unpredictable, there is one image, at the bottom, which looks like a Victorian lady feeding her dog.

All images added to Flickr.

Call me flower…

I have a great love for anything to do with nature, drawing and observing. This piece was created with mixed media: charcoal, Quink ink and a fine liner.

Changing faces of Portraits

Today I played with the idea of portraits and how the technique of the old traditions could be modified; incorporating photography and sketch techniques to create an illustrative piece. The word AWAY was added as Basketball was in mind, but instead, the portrait could contain their name.

The type could do with a some black taken away, and a lot of re-adjustment. I focused more on the portrait itself, added the type last, will come back to this and re-post changes.
