FAULT

Below is the second image I have produced for Fault.
White Lies was made from flour and dough.
The idea was to keep the surrounding space as white as possibly to allow easy application. I am going to re shoot the two entries, this and The Redwalls and see how they appear as titles with white space.

Searching through my dads old EP’s earlier today; i couldn’t help but take a few snaps of the covers. It was surprising to see that a lot of the older smaller EP’s do not have much (if any) artwork; most was to promote the record label. So having been inspired by the EP’s/LP’s i had to create some artwork.

If you have not guessed it already, i adore black/white/red and diagonal lines! I created these to give a fresh look to my existing identity, adding a twist.

Apple iPhone Touch

Being a huge fan of Apple, i decided to create several screen savers for their famous iPhone Touch. Below are a few examples i have been working on, i adore the use of neon colours within the navigation and found it something worth exploiting within the visual. I will be working on this further, trying different techniques and compositions.
Inspired by James White.

Still learning along the way, the website design is coming on. By producing my showcase it has enabled me to distinguish a style using typographical hierarchy and a clean visual presentation, this approach allows the work to speak for itself.
Still working on a header for the website, i have created my first successful piece of 3D work through line art alone. I am not sure at the moment as to whether the initial concept of a ‘reflecting’ header will work, but the experimentation is all worth while and of course as to whether the design idea is too distracting.
Although ON HOLD ((hairstylist identity))

Whenever possible, although projects like this are on hold, i still try to carry on experimenting. This piece is very dark and sinister, but sometimes you have to try out certain effects to fathom out if they are going to be successful. It is okay coming up with an idea/concept, in theory it will always work - in practice thats another matter.
Out of the 2 images i prefer the sweeping image (top) - i can imaging it would look very clean on the back of a business card, but i’m looking for something more apt. This is another experiment i can cross off the list! And who knows it may come in for another project…

Here i have placed the hair underneath a partial cut (the shape of an A to test the effect). The cut was taken down from the top right of the A down to the left edge.
The swirls are really quite interesting, but if i was to go with this idea, the possibility of creating a full word this way may look over done and too busy.
I prefer the little choppy clippings as it exaggerates the outline of the A, but by adding more swirls to the bottom example could produce a more effective piece. The next step will be to create a solid letter and add the hair as 2d swashes.
Fredrik Broman, an Interaction Designer, commented on my last post, saying “it would look even better in colour. Especially if the hair used came from a person with red-brown hair. Black hair on white looks very stark, so i think you should take the idea further by experimenting with different hair colours.” So this i will investigate further, always appreciate advice, thank you Fredrik.
