Although ON HOLD ((hairstylist identity))

Whenever possible, although projects like this are on hold, i still try to carry on experimenting. This piece is very dark and sinister, but sometimes you have to try out certain effects to fathom out if they are going to be successful. It is okay coming up with an idea/concept, in theory it will always work - in practice thats another matter.

Out of the 2 images i prefer the sweeping image (top) - i can imaging it would look very clean on the back of a business card, but i’m looking for something more apt. This is another experiment i can cross off the list! And who knows it may come in for another project…

Identity // Blog header

Below are 3 header designs for the classical guitar music blogspot, Chitarra e Dintorni.

The client asked for a classical music header. Studying traditional music sheets, i then composed these designs.

UPDATE: 3rd April ‘08

Logo design has been uploaded to Chitarra e Dintorni.

Hairstylist Identity.02

I’m loving the experimentation with the hairstylist identity. Today I produced the word ’stylist’ out of actual hair, below is an example, the letter S (for Stylist). This is another approach to the brief, the next experiment will be achieved hopefully tomorrow, before i make a final decision.

Although this is photographical (looks quite eerie), ideally i’d produce a smaller image, with hair sandwiched between transfer paper, so that i’d be able to scan of photocopy (photocopy ideally for the immense detail).

Hairstylist Identity

Experimenting with vectorising: the outcome is really intricate and it would be amazing incorporated into a logotype. This is an initial idea, representing fallen curls. There are quite a few concepts i want to broach before going further with this design; involving tabletop photography.

Background

With updating everything, I decided to try to create a repetitive pattern for the background of my blog, tiled by html coding. I just love the texture, for it to work successfully, i’d need to make the gradient possibly 50% either that or provide white boxes for posts and the information to the right.

Introducing self-promo

The repeating pattern, ideally, is going to be printed large to vinyl, possibility of sending self-promo packs to agencies. Concept needs define/modified/tweaked - very early stages.

Transient

After the Sunday roast was cooked, i took the liberty of filling the cooking tray with boiling kettle water and washing liquid, left it overnight. The result was this, a fantastically well formed pattern created with the formation of rising fat. It is so unpredictable; created through natural occurrence.

Natural Beauty

St. Bees at it’s very best. With growing confidence in photography, i’ve added these images to show how different perspectives, lighting and tones add to the character and atmosphere of an image. Such a surreal aura.

Typography

Playing with word phrases, I created an A3 piece. This is an initial drawing and will be developed further, adding more illustration. I’d like to incorporate the glowing effects shown on previous posts.
