Work in Progress*

Typography

Playing with word phrases, I created an A3 piece. This is an initial drawing and will be developed further, adding more illustration. I’d like to incorporate the glowing effects shown on previous posts.

Photography

Having such a fond love of the shoreline, i have made visits to many different locations along the Cumbrian coastline. I love how the sea seems to have an inviting air. The ever changing coastline never ceases to amaze me. The intoxicating distant sky, reflecting off the wind swept waves, feels so still captivating.

Morph

Having recently watched ‘The Dark’ and ‘Silent Hill,’ this piece was certainly influenced by the staleness these films left me with. Really such an uneasiness. By adding colour to the morphed figure an aspect of realism is introduced. The process, photocopying and adding colour through PhotoShop overlay.

Composition Play

Here is a selection of experimental compositions. These pieces were created through an initial stage of research. Looking at feminism within editorial and manipulation, forcing the idea of communication within women’s magazines.

‘Stardust’ continued

Continuing with the ’stardust’ effect - I manipulated the texture of the image, adding a surreal blur and the dream like glow.

‘Stardust’

Last night I re-visited an old link, one of which is very informative of Photoshop Effects. The work that the tutorials show, are not the usually appalling filterings, toning down the harshness of each filter. So last night and today I made an attempt at this new ’stardust’ graphic style. I must admit, i’m a major fan of this ‘fantasy’ like design, to me it has reminiscence of the childhood films ‘The labyrinth’ and ‘Never Ending Story.’

Using images from previous art direction.

Art Books - Inside Revealed

Here are a few spread examples from the Art Book published on the blog early last month.

Cloning, genetical modifications and cosmetics.

Visual Literacy

Playing with perspective, 3D imagery and flat illustrations. I used the idea of the Cork body-guarding the Champaign, a humorous notion, therefore i added the idea visually by adding muscles.
